Late April and the Projects Begin!
I’ve discovered that there was certainly an electrical fire that caused the leak, as an avid fire starter, I know char when I see it. I’ve ripped out the over cab bed and plan to replace it with a super comfortable mattress after I clean this all up and rebuild it. I’ve also ordered a slew of things for the roof, because I want it all done and updated before I fix that leak and seal the roof.
It took SO long to get that first valance off the window, but now that I know her secrets, the other 3 will be much easier. They’re ugly, old, and the windows are bigger without them.
The lithium batteries, and inverter are en route, so she’ll be solar as soon as that roof is done! Rain is still in the forecast, so I’m working undercover to be safe.
All other orders are piling up, I’m trying to get everything before the tariffs become a problem and we don’t have any imports coming in.
Yesterday was trash day, and I immediately filled up my bin…
W.I.P. The Rear Living Room
I painted this, and then repainted this, pulled out the windows to reseal and then still have a leak… I swear someone drove this through a California fire and I just cannot stop this goddamn leak! I had the brilliant idea to put a peel and stick window film on the skylight, so now rainbows pour in through out Frida and land in different places depending on time of day. I hope to god I can keep that when the solar panels get mounted to the roof! My poor contractor I don’t pay hasn’t heard the end of it about that… but behold Finn, everyone’s best friend and how glorious he looks bathed in rainbows while he naps!

Work in Progress… the bathroom…
This bathroom is an homage to my great grandma, Grandma Gert… she had this 1920’s house on Kendall Ave with art deco bubble wallpaper in the bathroom that I absolutely LOVED! I couldn’t find a wallpaper to replicate it, so I painted it. I also did the “tub and tile” epoxy to bring all the smokers yellow to white. In fairness I think it was “almond” but I didn’t like it. I also replaced the toilet and put in a bidet and obviously put prism privacy window “stained glass” on the window to bring in more rainbows!

Work in Progress… the kitchenette
This underwent a couple paint colors as well… I have got to stop listening to other people, the pink was TERRIBLE. Looked like baby asprin. I brought it back to the jewel tone it was meant to be. I pulled out the broken fridge and replaced it (which was a serious challenge and involved throwing it out the window), as well as the stove which is fine but I’m converting to solar electric and didn’t have a use for a propane stove. The solar system is being installed behind and under the fridge. The panels await their forever home in my garage. Rainbows are still falling everywhere from the skylight!

Work in Progress… the overhead cab
Ok, this most certainly had an electrical fire. I was aware there was a water leak, but then it became a question of “what came first, the fire or the water?” and also “does it mater?” Anyway, it’s been rebuilt and I put that rainbow privacy film on the windows.

Work in Progress… the roof and A/C
Making sure everything on the roof was sealed included ripping out that A/C unit… god damn that was hard! It involved a heat gun and a t square and I opted to not replace it an instead install mini split and a fan in it’s place. I HIGHLY recommend a mini split conversion, it’s amazing and quiet!
